In addition to improvement of agricultural statistics and information in Thailand, ASEAD Project contribute to development of food product demand/supply information in ASEAN countries. It is achieved by upgrading capacity of OAE counterparts in implementing the AFSIS Project.
JICA donated computers, through ASEAD, to the ASEAN Food Security Information and Training Center established in OAE by AFSIS Project.
ASEAD counterparts disseminate how-how concerning statistical surveys, economic analyses, etc. developed through the JICA project. They give lectures and guide exercises at the training/ workshop programs organized by AFSIS Project.
The Project help counterparts develop the AFSIS network and Food Security Information Database.
AFSIS (ASEAN Food Security Information System) Project
AFSIS Project aims at building a network system through which food security information for ASEAN+3 countries is collected and exchanged through an information network.
AFSIS Project activities consist of two major components:
- Develop an information network system through which food demand/ supply information is exchanged, and
- Develop human resource capacities of government personnel working for agricultural statistics and information.
